“The Jones Twins: Bebop Souls in a Muzak™ World”
Sweeps Festivals with Domestic and International Success
NEW YORK, NY —The award-winning short documentary “The Jones Twins: Bebop Souls in a Muzak™ World,” directed by Stephanie Jonesand co-produced/written by Suzanne Jones to captivate audiences across the international film festival circuit.
After a high-profile world premiere at New York City’s Urbanworld Film Festival in October 2025, the film is now set for a major spotlight in upcoming festivals in the U.S. and abroad, including being part of the Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase in May. The documentary, which blends comedic and surreal elements that reflect their legacy as New York-based writers/performance artists, also uncovers their unique backstory of growing up as bi-racial identical twins adopted by loving Black parents.
The Jones Twins’ film was named “Best Documentary Film” at the 2026 Atlanta Short Film Festival. It also had wide audience appeal at the BIG APPLE FILM FEST in March. The film is also nominated for a “B-DOCUMENTED” Award, presented by BRIC ARTS MEDIA Free Speech platform. And it is an Official Selection at June’s San Francisco Black Film Festival.
“We are so excited that guests who attend the festival screening are reacting with joy and curiosity about our unique artistic legacy and family history. This retrospective experience has been both rewarding and emotional, as we share our background and learn more each day that our story evolves. The universal themes that emerge from the film seem to be resonating for diverse audiences, and that’s truly a rewarding experience to witness,” commented Director Stephanie Jones.
“This has been an amazing journey for us and the community, that is an integral part of our story. And the fact that audiences seem to be informed, moved and entertained by the short film, confirms that our goal of completing a feature-length documentary is worth pursuing. We hope people see some part of themselves reflected in our story, and that it’s inspiring,” added Co-Producer and Screenwriter Suzanne Jones.
