We know what you’re thinking…
Did your mother dress you alike?
Did you fool your teachers in class?
Is it true what they say about twin ESP?
YES, to all of the above (and yep, that’s us in matching frocks, pondering our outfits and existences as three-year-olds).
We created the Double It Twins - based on the blonde, throwback Doublemint Twins from the Wrigley’s gum ads - in response to the curiosity we received about our twinness. Most questions were typical and harmless (see above) but female twins are often objectified and subject to sexual innuendo that veers toward the obnoxious. We saw that we were fodder for male fantasies, so decided to flip the script.
We donned platinum blonde wigs, cooked up an act where we moved, spoke and sang ditties in perfect synchronicity - and the Double It Twins were born.
We also turned the act into a talk show dating panel where we placed Black and white audience members in interracial “couples.” With a James Brown beat on the one, we asked the audience, in synch: “If you mix a little Bebop with a little Muzak, which one rises to the top? Well Sis, I guess that depends on how hard you shake it!”
